The Porsche 911 Carrera S (992 generation), introduced in 2019, marks the eighth iteration of the iconic 911 lineup, with production ongoing as of 2023. While exact production numbers are not publicly disclosed by Porsche, estimates suggest tens of thousands of 992 units have been produced annually across all variants, with the Carrera S being a popular model. It is powered by a 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged flat-six engine, delivering 443 horsepower and 390 lb-ft of torque, paired with an 8-speed PDK dual-clutch transmission or an optional 7-speed manual in select markets. Performance highlights include a 0-60 mph time of 3.5 seconds with the PDK and a top speed of 190 mph.
For exotic car collectors, the 992 Carrera S holds appeal due to its blend of modern technology and classic 911 design, though it is not considered rare given its production volume. Special editions, such as the 911 Carrera S Heritage Design Edition (limited to 992 units globally), add exclusivity and potential value appreciation. Market trends indicate stable demand, with used examples retaining strong resale value, often starting above $100,000 USD depending on condition and options. Its historical significance lies in continuing Porsche’s legacy of evolving the 911 while integrating advanced driver-assistance and connectivity features.
