About the Aston Martin Vanquish
- Production
- 2012–2018
- Est. units built
- 4,200
The second-generation Aston Martin Vanquish was unveiled in 2012 as the successor to the DBS and entered production at Gaydon, England. Designed under Marek Reichman, it used Aston Martin’s bonded-aluminum VH architecture with carbon-fiber body panels and styling influenced by the One-77. Its 5.9-liter naturally aspirated V12 initially produced 565 hp and drove the rear wheels through a rear-mounted six-speed automatic transmission. A 2015 update introduced an eight-speed Touchtronic III transmission, increased output to 568 hp and reduced the claimed 0-to-60-mph time to 3.6 seconds. The convertible Vanquish Volante joined the range for the 2014 model year.
Aston Martin introduced the Vanquish S for 2017 with 580 hp, revised intake manifolds, a quad-outlet exhaust, updated suspension settings and redesigned aerodynamic components. Production concluded in 2018 with the limited Vanquish S Ultimate before the DBS Superleggera replaced the model. Aston Martin states that more than 4,200 second-generation Vanquish coupés and Volantes were produced. The company does not provide a more precise total or a complete body-style breakdown in its published historical account, so “more than 4,200” is the most accurate factory-supported figure.
