About this car
The Ferrari 308 GTB Quattrovalvole, introduced in 1982 as an evolution of the 308 GTB, was produced until 1985. Approximately 3,042 units were built, making it a relatively rare model in Ferrari's history, especially compared to later production runs. Designed by Pininfarina, it features a distinctive wedge-shaped body and remains an iconic representation of 1980s automotive design. The "Quattrovalvole" name refers to its four-valve-per-cylinder configuration, an upgrade over earlier 308 models, enhancing engine performance.
Powered by a 2.9-liter V8 engine, the Quattrovalvole delivers 230 horsepower in European specification (slightly less in U.S. models due to emissions regulations) and achieves a top speed of around 155 mph with a 0-60 mph time of approximately 6.5 seconds. Its mid-engine layout and lightweight fiberglass body (in early GTB versions) contribute to balanced handling, a key draw for collectors. As a final iteration of the 308 series, it holds historical significance as a bridge to the later 328 model. Values have risen in recent years, often exceeding $100,000 for well-maintained examples, with low-mileage or original-condition cars commanding premiums in the exotic car market.

The Ferrari 308 GTS Quattrovalvole debuted at the 1982 Paris Motor Show with a removable roof panel and a transversely mounted 2,927-cc V8. The engine used four valves per cylinder, Bosch K-Jetronic mechanical fuel injection and Marelli Digiplex electronic ignition. European-market output was 240 CV, while specifications varied in markets requiring additional emissions equipment. Power was delivered to the rear wheels through a five-speed manual transmission.
The GTS Quattrovalvole can be identified by its louvered radiator-exit panel in the front lid, revised grille with rectangular driving lights and electrically operated mirrors carrying small Ferrari badges. Production ended in 1985 when the model was replaced by the 328 GTS. According to Ferrari’s official model archive, 3,042 examples of the 308 GTS Quattrovalvole were produced within the chassis-number range 41701 to 59265. This figure excludes every other version of the Ferrari 308.
