About the Aston Martin DBS
- Production
- 2018–2024
The Aston Martin DBS Superleggera was introduced in 2018 as the successor to the second-generation Vanquish. Based on Aston Martin’s bonded-aluminum platform, the rear-wheel-drive grand tourer used a front-mounted 5.2-liter twin-turbocharged V12 connected to a rear-mounted eight-speed ZF automatic transmission. The engine produced 715 bhp and 664 lb-ft of torque, enabling the coupé to accelerate from 0 to 62 mph in 3.4 seconds and reach a claimed top speed of 211 mph. Carbon-fiber body panels helped reduce weight, while a mechanical limited-slip differential, torque vectoring, adaptive dampers and carbon-ceramic brakes supported its performance. Aston Martin introduced the soft-top DBS Superleggera Volante in 2019.
During its production run, Aston Martin offered several limited editions, including the DBS 59, the OHMSS Edition and the 007 Edition. The DBS 770 Ultimate marked the end of the model line, with its V12 uprated to 770 metric horsepower, equivalent to approximately 759 bhp. Production of the 770 Ultimate was limited to 499 cars worldwide, comprising 300 coupés and 199 Volantes, with customer deliveries beginning in 2023. The DBS line concluded as Aston Martin prepared its next V12 flagship, the third-generation Vanquish, which was unveiled in 2024.
