The Aston Martin Virage was introduced at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show and positioned between the DB9 and the higher-performance DBS. Built on Aston Martin’s bonded-aluminum VH architecture, it was offered as a coupé and a convertible Virage Volante. Its front-mounted 5,935-cc naturally aspirated V12 produced 490 bhp and 420 lb-ft of torque, which was delivered to the rear wheels through a rear-mounted six-speed Touchtronic II automatic transmission. Aston Martin quoted a 0-to-62-mph time of 4.6 seconds and a top speed of 186 mph.
The Virage featured adaptive dampers, carbon-ceramic brakes, a limited-slip differential and aluminum, magnesium and composite body components. It was discontinued in 2012 after approximately 18 months because its position closely overlapped the DB9 and DBS; the subsequently revised DB9 incorporated elements of the Virage’s design and chassis development. Industry production records identify 1,044 cars, comprising 656 coupés and 388 Volantes, although Aston Martin does not publish those totals on its current historical model page.
